Project Description

The main objective of the project is to study auxiliary generation systems based on fuel cells in marine environments. The preliminar tasks of the project are the determination of the functions and characteristics of an auxiliary generation system based on fuel cells in a marine environment, in comparison with the conventional systems in this environment. The main part of the project consists in the construction of a demonstration system and the detailed design of a first prototype. To carry out these objectives, a comparative analysis of four basic electric schemes is done, paying special attention to the transitory response. The integration of the auxiliary generation systems to three different yachts is addressed: the expected load profiles, the size of the different elements, and the fitting of the system with the yacht electric architecture.
