Abstract

In this paper, a fault detection and isolation (FDI) approach using a bank of interval observers is developed. From the methodological point of view, a bank of interval observers is designed from different dynamical models of the system under healthy and faulty situations. Each dedicated interval observer matches one possible situation while all designed interval observers monitor the system simultaneously and independently. For the sake of guaranteed FDI, a set of FDI sufficient conditions are established based on invariant set notions. These conditions ensure that the faults can be accurately isolated after sufficiently long monitoring time. Finally, simulation results over a subsystem of a wind turbine are used to present the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
