Modeling and design of PEM fuel cell based systems with CH&P and ethanol reforming

PEM fuel cells are specially suitable for stationary applications with combined Heat and Power. In particular, there is a very interesting case if a source of ethanol for the production of hydrogen is available, what is usual in agro-industry processes. Heat integration between the different elements of these energy systems is crucial for the efficiency improvement. The project is aimed at the modeling and design of such systems, determining the most efficient solutions. The study will be basically developed in a simulation environment.

The work is under the scope of the following projects:
