Short biography
I received a Computer Engineering degree (MsC equivalent) from the Polytechnic University of Bari in 2004. I then earned a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) degree in 2006 from the Technical University of Catalonia, where I completed a PhD in Signal theory and Communications in 2009. Afterwards, I spent one year as postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Physiology of Perception and Action at the Collège de France-CNRS (France) and more than two years in the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics (MAP5-UMR68145-CNRS) at the Paris Descartes University. From 2013 to 2014 I was a Visiting Professor in the Image Processing Group (GPI) at the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF). I joined the Computer Vision Center and the Computer Vision at the University of Barcelona consolidated research group (CVUB) with a Marie Curie fellowship under the cofind program Beatriu de Pinós in October 2014. In February 2019 I joined the Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (CSIC- UPC) as a Ramón y Cajal fellow. Since March 2017, I hold the research accreditation as associate professor issued by l'Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari (AQU) Catalunya.
