We strongly believe that ICRA 2018 is an ideal venue to present recent successes and next steps in human-robot interaction with flying robots. This workshop is aimed not only at bringing together researchers from human-robot interaction, UAVs and interactive machine learning fields, but also at creating valuable collaborations, and attracting more roboticists into this growing community.
This workshop will be held on the 21st May as part of ICRA, which runs from 21-25 May 2018, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Australia.
Day: Monday 21 May 2018
Time: 0900 - 1230

We strongly believe that ICRA 2018 is an ideal venue to present recent successes and next steps in human-robot interaction with flying robots. This workshop is aimed not only at bringing together researchers from human-robot interaction, UAVs and interactive machine learning fields, but also at creating valuable collaborations, and attracting more roboticists into this growing community.
Research on aerial robots has grown substantially, due to modern advances in technology, materials, and systems of perception and control. Nevertheless, this topic is still new in comparison to other research areas in robotics. This workshop paves the way for a near future wherein aerial and ground robots interact with people in houses, streets, or retail environments in order to perform specific tasks. We strongly believe, this workshop is needed to give the researches the opportunity to present their current work on this topics.
The organizers will briefly introduce the current state-of-art in the field of human robot interaction and drones. They will then propose future challenges to be tackled to foster further discussions along the workshop.
Experts in different fields will share their works and experience in UAV and HRI, and the relation between these two important topics (please see the list of speakers above, depends on confirmation). They will also be encouraged to give their opinions and thoughts about the current and future problems in the field, providing different perspectives according to their areas of research.
The organizers will present a review of the most relevant presented ideas, and new frontiers to be carried out in the next future.
