The Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), CSIC-UPC is seeking a predoctoral researcher to work under the framework of the CASANDRA project (Driving the Adoption of Data Flows in the Supply Chain by Integrating Intelligent and Decentralized Control for Large-Scale Part Manufacturing)

The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Adrià Colomé and Dr. Sergi Foix, and she/he will work in cooperation with the members of the Perception and Manipulation group at IRI.


ABOUT IRI:
IRI is a Joint University Research Institute participated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) that conducts research in human-centered robotics and automatic control. The institute is a key player in the Spanish robotics and automatic control scenes, and a valued participant in a large number of collaborations including several ongoing European projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The candidate will do research in learning robot behaviors for collaborating with humans in applications in the field of large piece manufacturing.

Elements such as defining interaction scenarios, human fatigue and status monitoring, and their effect on human-robot interaction. Human intention prediction for collaboration will also be investigated. Motion capturing and computer vision will be used to gather data. Such data will be included in a digital twin of the task to be performed in order to learn robot policies. These policies need to be:
- easy to be taught by a non-expert
- helpful, safe and friendly for the human
- adaptable and precise, as well as requiring minimal real-world executions for transferring from simulation (digital twins) to reality.

- Salary in accordance with CSIC salary scales and commensurate with the experience of the candidate
