The Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), CSIC-UPC is seeking a research assistant to work under the framework of the CASANDRA project (Driving the Adoption of Data Flows in the Supply Chain by Integrating Intelligent and Decentralized Control for Large-Scale Part Manufacturing)

The research assistant will be supervised by Dr. Adrià Colomé, and she/he will work in cooperation with the members of the Perception and Manipulation group at IRI.


ABOUT IRI:
IRI is a Joint University Research Institute participated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) that conducts research in human-centered robotics and automatic control. The institute is a key player in the Spanish robotics and automatic control scenes, and a valued participant in a large number of collaborations including several ongoing European projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The person will work on developing and integrating algorithms to assist in research focused on controlling robots and/or exoskeletons. This work is part of a project aimed at manufacturing large components, such as thermal plant parts and naval industry equipment. His/her work will include aspects like:
- Programming robots and/or exoskeletons
- Applying learning algorithms in simulation
- Learning simulation to reality policies
- Integrating proprioceptive systems with robots
- Ergonomics optimization for a better user experience in human-robot interaction

Contract:
- Start date: Summer 2025
- Type of contract: Full time
- Salary: Around 32.600 €/ gross per year

Requirements

Qualifications: The candidate must have (or be in the process of finishing) a masters degree in the fields of robotics or artificial intelligence.
Knowledge: Programming in python/C++ is highly appreciated. ROS background too.
Languages: English speaking is mandatory, Spanish and Catalan are a plus but not mandatory.
