Project Description

This is a project within the Call for IRI MdM Internal Projects 2020 a call of R&D projects addressed to IRI early career researchers, under the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence Programme.

Despite great progress, handling deformable materials has remained elusive because of their infinite–dimensional shape–state space, and finding low–complexity representations has become a pressing research goal. In our research we were able to describe a possible representation of such space using combinatorial topology. This project proposes further advance in this direction via generation and analysis of synthetic data, such as simulation of cloth manipulations, using different approaches from Machine Learning and additionally performing statistical analysis on the classifications obtained.
