Engineer: data gathering and processing in the medical field

The "Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), CSIC-UPC", is seeking an engineer to work within the Perception and Manipulation group in the project PTI+: NeuroAging, which is a project related to data gathering and processing in the medical field. The project aims at developing monitoring techniques to autonomously assess the physical state of oncological patients during functional tests.

We are currently looking for an engineer in charge of developing a system suitable for the gathering of clinical data from patients and the recognition of their activities.

The system will include several sensors located in the environment and a robot that will provide encouragement and guidance to the patients during the clinical assessments.

The engineer will work full-time (37.5 hours per week) under a contract with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The duration of the contract will be until 31/12/2022, starting as soon as possible with a gross salary of 29.000 Euros approx. per year.


Qualifications: - Bachelor’s in computer science, mathematics, electronic engineering or equivalent.
- Master or PhD in a CS related field is a plus.
Knowledge: - Excellent mathematical and coding skills (Python and C++).
- Experience in computer vision and machine learning.
- Experience in microcontrollers (Arduino) and Bluetooth communication is a plus.
- Experience in robotics and ROS is a plus.
- Experience in HRI is a plus.
- Experience in user experience design and testing is a plus.
Experience: - Experience on big-data and data analysis is a plus.
- Experience in computer vision and machine learning.
Languages: Fluent in English
Other: - Good oral and written skills including presentation of technical material.
