ABOUT IRI:
IRI is a Joint University Research Institute participated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) that conducts research in human-centered robotics and automatic control. The institute is a key player in the Spanish robotics and automatic control scenes, and a valued participant in a large number of collaborations including several ongoing European projects.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This project aims to develop an integrated drone system capable of automatically inspecting renewable energy systems, transmitting acquired images quickly while preserving their quality, and then generating detailed component assessments to determine a consistent repair and/or maintenance strategy as well as recommendation. Particularly, in this project you will work on developing novel algorithms for image segmentation, compresion, localization, reconstruction and synthesis. Address challenges related to noisy observations, non-calibrated cameras, and diverse environments to improve robustness in real-world scenarios. To this end, we will explore some novel self-supervised ideas in both model- and data-based approaches.
